Deal Alert: The Prince of Persia trilogy will cost you less than $6 thanks to an 80% discount

The game Assassin’s Creed wishes it could be

The critically acclaimed Prince of Persia trilogy is now available at a jaw-dropping 80% discount, making each of these timeless gems available for less than two bucks a pop over on GoG. This series holds a significant place in gaming history and in my heart.

Developed by Ubisoft, it set the stage for the popular Assassin’s Creed franchise, a series that clearly stole its thunder (there’s history there). However, there’s an undeniable charm to Prince of Persia that AC doesn’t have in my opinion, and because of this, it’s withstood the sands of time (heh). I’d say its time flow control mechanic is still a novelty worth experiencing today.

What is Prince of Persia, anyway?

That’s not to turn my nose up at its clever mix of platforming, puzzle-solving, and combat. In fact, this was my first game where I had to jump across platforms and pillars and use my brain to figure things out. This was way before Uncharted was released and also before Assassin’s Creed “borrowed generously” from PoP.

Now, let’s talk about the trilogy itself. “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” is a mesmerizing mix of adventure and mystique, introducing us to the Prince’s journey and his power to reverse time. The sequel, “Prince of Persia: Warrior Within,” sees him battling against his dark alter ego and the hands of fate. Finally, in “Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones,” he must face the consequences of his past actions and fight his way back to restore peace in the kingdom. It’s a perfect trifecta, and yes, you need to play them all to appreciate them fully.

Play the originals while you wait for the remake

Currently, the games are being sold at a steal. The Sands of Time, the classic that started it all, is available for just $1.69 USD. Its intense successors, Warrior Within and The Two Thrones, can be snagged for just $1.99 USD each. That means you can own the entire trilogy for less than the cost of that Starbucks coffee you just drank this morning! It’s worth noting that the 2008 version of “Prince of Persia” is also just two bucks, but let’s be honest, not many people liked it.

Hopefully, the remake releases next year

Even if you just pick up the first game and give it a whirl while you wait for the delayed Sands of Time remake, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Whether you’re looking to relive some nostalgia or if this is your first time experiencing it, I promise that few things in gaming can compare to the feeling of defying time and “un-dying” after falling into a pit of spikes.
